Arsenal win first title in 22 years as Man City are held by Bournemouth

Manchester City saw their title challenge come to an end after a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday.

Jeremy Doku nearly gave City an early lead inside the opening four minutes when Antoine Semenyo picked him out, only for Djordje Petrovic to produce a fine save from his low shot.

Moments later, Antoine Semenyo thought he had given City the lead against his former employers after slotting home Erling Haaland’s pass; however, the assistant referee raised the flag for offside.

At the other end, Evanilson should have fired the Cherries ahead after being teed up by Marcus Tavernier but could only send his close-range attempt off target.

In the 39th minute, Eli Junior Kroupi broke the deadlock after being picked out by Adrien Truffert before curling his effort into the top corner.

Shortly after the restart, Nico O’Reilly could’ve restored parity for the Citizens after he was found by Haaland, but he was denied by Petrovic.

Moments later, Evanilson nearly doubled the hosts’ lead after being picked out by Truffert, but Gianluigi Donnarumma produced a fine save to deny his first-time effort.

The Cherries threatened again on the hour mark as Kroupi aimed for the corner but dragged his effort wide before Rayan rattled the post from a corner moments later.

On the stroke of full-time, David Brooks almost wrapped up the win for the hosts after racing through one-on-one, but his effort cannoned off the post.

Deep into stoppage-time, Haaland restored parity for City after reacting quickest when Rodri’s initial strike came back off the post.

The draw sees Arsenal crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, while Bournemouth secure European qualification for the first time in their history.
