Bukayo Saka appeared to show that he is ready to stay at Arsenal after scoring the first goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The England international has been with the club since he was seven and made his first-team debut in 2018.
Saka has become one of Arsenal’s key players under manager Mikel Arteta, and fans had been worried about his future as his contract was nearing its end.
Before the Wolves match, the BBC claimed he had agreed to a new deal to stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2031.
His goal celebration at Molineux, where he made a gesture of signing a contract, seemed to confirm this. The new deal is reported to pay over £300,000 a week, making him Arsenal’s top earner.
The goal also ended a long scoring drought for Saka, who had not scored since Arsenal’s win over Brentford in December.
He has bagged five goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, showing how important he is to the team.
Arteta played him in the central number ten role again, with Noni Madueke on the right wing, a set-up that has worked well in recent games.
However, Saka had to be taken off with less than 20 minutes left because of a possible injury.
It seemed precautionary, but any longer absence could be worrying, especially after he just ended his scoring drought. Saka has already missed several games this season due to a hamstring injury and a recent hip problem.
Even with these setbacks, Saka remains vital for Arsenal as they continue their fight for the title.
His overall play makes him one of the team’s most important players, and fans will be hoping he stays fit for the rest of the season.
