Sesko’s late goal at West Ham preserves Carrick’s unbeaten record

Manchester United snatched a point from the jaws of defeat as they battled to a 1-1 draw at West Ham United in the Premier League at London Stadium on Tuesday night.

The host started the game on a strong foot and was almost rewarded with an opener in the 13th minute when Crysencio Summerville tried his luck from the edge of the area, but his curling effort was palmed away by Senne Lammens.

At the other end, Aaron Wan-Bissaka made a crucial block on the line to deny Luke Shaw the opener from a corner.

In the 40th minute, Shaw found Amad Diallo on the break, and the winger made his way into the area but dragged his effort into the side-netting.

Five minutes after the restart, Tomas Soucek broke the deadlock when he tapped home Jarrod Bowen’s low cross into the far corner to give the Hammers the lead.

Casemiro thought he had drawn United level in the 63rd minute after he met Kobbie Mainoo’s cross with a powerful header. But after a VAR review, the goal was ruled out for offside.

Moments later, Bruno Fernandes found Benjamin Sesko at the edge of the box, who shot on the turn, but Hermansen was equal to the task.

Deep into stoppage time, Sesko drew United level after he guided Bryan Mbeumo’s cross home into the top corner.

Man United still retained their fourth spot in the standings, following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United earlier today.
