Wolves fire Vitor Pereira following a string of losses

Wolves have relieved Vitor Pereira of his duties as the head coach of the club, reports The Telegraph.

Pereira’s departure comes after a dismal 3-0 loss to Fulham yesterday, which was their eighth from 10 league games, leaving Wolves at the bottom of the Premier League table with just two points from 10 matches.

The Portuguese manager’s sacking marks a dramatic turn of events, especially after he was handed a new three-year contract just weeks ago despite the team’s poor start to the season.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reveals that there was a clause in Pereira’s recently signed new deal allowing for a sacking without having to pay out the full contract.

The 57-year-old is the fourth Premier League manager of the campaign to be sacked after Ange Postecoglou, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Graham Potter.

He was nominated for the manager of the year award last season after saving the club from relegation.

However, he lost favour of the home crowd after last month’s painful 3-2 home defeat to Burnley, where he confronted the angry fans in the South Bank, and the chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning” have been sung ever since then.

The Portuguese manager was also eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Chelsea after suffering a 4-3 home defeat to the Blues.

Wolves make a trip to the capital to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their next Premier League outing just before the international break.
