Alexander Isak has opened up about his first few months at Liverpool, but was still tight-lipped when asked about his former club Newcastle United.
Since making the blockbuster move reportedly worth £125million in the summer, Isak has had a slow start to his career at Liverpool.
He has already made six appearances in all competitions for the Reds, but with only one goal and one assist to his name so far.
The 26-year-old insisted that he is enjoying his new life at the new club, however, and believes that his form will improve.
“I’ve been really happy so far,” the striker said in Thursday’s press conference with the Sweden national team when asked about his time at Liverpool.
“Really nice team. A city where the team has a very good relationship with the fans, which is important.
“It’s been nice so far.
“I believe that as the team improves and things start to flow better, it will also get better for me.”
Unsurprisingly, Isak was not in the mood to talk about his old club.
“Same as I said last time, really,” he said when asked about how things ended for him at Newcastle.
“It’s nothing I want to dwell on right now.
“It doesn’t benefit anyone, neither me nor Newcastle, so let it be.”
Asked whether he has already spoken with Eddie Howe since the move, he simply said: “No.”
While Newcastle have had a rough start to their season after losing such a key player, things are at least looking somewhat bright in their striker department.
Nick Woltemade, who was brought in from Stuttgart this summer, is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with three goals.
Unfortunately, the other striker signing, Yoane Wissa, is yet to make his debut for the club after picking up a knee injury on international duty with the Democratic Republic of Congo and is expected to remain sidelined for weeks.
