Nico O’Reilly replaces injured Reece James in the England senior squad

Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly has received his first senior call-up to the England squad.

The 20-year-old replaces Chelsea’s captain Reece James after he sustained an injury during the Blues’ 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday.

O’Reilly has been capped from U15 through to U20 level and has been called up by Thomas Tuchel for the Three Lions’ October FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Wales and Latvia.

The squad will meet at St George’s Park today to begin their preparations for the games, which could see England secure their place at next summer’s World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, dependent on results in Group K.
