Liverpool’s Alisson Becker is set to miss six weeks of action with a hamstring injury until after the November international break, according to The Athletic.
With an official statement yet to be released, the 33-year-old had a scan earlier today after he sustained the injury in the Reds’ UCL 1-0 loss to Turkish champions Galatasaray on Tuesday.
“When he sprinted back, he felt something,” Slot said of Alisson.
“I cannot tell you because I am not a physician, but normally when a player sprints back and feels something and goes to the floor and doesn’t come back to the pitch – which, by the way, they did 112 times, being injured and coming back on the pitch without any pain – our players don’t do this.
“So if one of our players is on the floor nine times out of 10, I fear the worst, and with the worst, I mean he cannot continue, and that is what happened with Alisson.
“He will not be able to play Saturday; that is 99.9% [sure]. I have already said 100.”
“It is never a positive sign when a player has to go off like this. Alisson is an important part of our team, and you can be sure he will not be available to play on Saturday.”
He is set to miss several key fixtures, including games against Manchester United, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea in their next game on Saturday.
The Brazilian has made 307 appearances for the Reds since joining from Roma in 2018, keeping 129 clean sheets.
He was also left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s October Brazil squad for their friendlies against South Korea and Japan.
With Alisson sidelined, Mamardashvili is expected to start in goal for the first time in the league since his arrival.
The 25-year-old will now have the opportunity to prove himself in one of the most demanding fixtures on the calendar.
