Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has returned from his exile and rejoined first-team training on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s home Premier League clash with Sunderland.
Malacia was part of the Manchester United outcasts, dubbed “bomb squad”, alongside Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony, who were left out of Ruben Amorim’s pre-season plans earlier this summer.
The 26-year-old was the only one on that list to have failed to secure a move away from Old Trafford, but things have now looked brighter for him since.
First, Amorim included Malacia’s name in Manchester United’s registered Premier League squad a couple of weeks ago, signalling the possibility of a return to the first-team picture.
Now, Manchester United have confirmed that Malacia has been reintegrated into the first-team training after previously spending some time with the Under-21s.
Malacia last featured for Manchester United back in January, before heading to PSV Eindhoven on loan for the second half of the season, helping them secure the Eredivisie title.
Malacia is not the only player making a return to the first-team training on Wednesday, however.
Amad Diallo, who missed Manchester United’s defeat to Brentford last week due to family reasons, has now rejoined the squad as well.
Amorim previously explained that Amad was absent because “someone in his family passed away” and showed his support for the winger.
The pair’s return can only be positive for Manchester United, who are preparing for Saturday’s match against Sunderland.
Sunderland have surprised many with their solid form this season, sitting fifth in the Premier League table with 11 points from six matches, four points above 14th-placed Manchester United.
