Brentford hosted Chelsea in another London Derby at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday night as they battled to a 2-2 draw.
The Blues were back to action after the international break and were eager to maintain their unbeaten run in the Premier League against their London rivals.
Enzo Maresca made four changes to the team that defeated Fulham just before the break.
The Bees were keen on bouncing back after a 2-1 defeat to newly promoted side Sunderland last time out.
Both teams were evenly poised at the half-hour mark of the match, with Brentford creating the better chances.
The Bees took the lead in the 34th minute through Kevin Schade after he was released by Jordan Henderson with a long ball over the top, with him cutting in and slotting it between a retrieving Tosin’s legs into the bottom corner.
The hosts were in full control of the match at halftime, as the visitors were not creating enough chances to hurt them.
Maresca made major substitutions after the break, bringing on Marc Cucurella, Reece James and a returning Cole Palmer.
Palmer would soon work his magic in five minutes of being on the pitch with a first-time volley which was set up by João Pedro with a header.
The Englishman could have gotten his second of the night after Pedro Neto’s electric pace took him clear down the left and he cut the ball back perfectly into the path of Palmer, but he struck the ball into the hands of Caoimhín Kelleher.
In the 85th minute, Moises Caicedo thought he had scored the winner after his thunderbolt gave the Blues the lead for the first time in the game.
But there was a final twist in the match as Carvalho found the equaliser deep into stoppage time after a long throw caused havoc for Chelsea in the box, with him finding the back of the net at the far post.
Chelsea travel to Germany on Wednesday to take on Bayern Munich in their first match of the Champions League campaign.
