Chelsea on the hunt for a striker before the deadline

Chelsea have entered the market again to sign a striker before the transfer window closes on Monday, according to The Athletic.

Nicolas Jackson was set to join Bayern Munich on loan until Chelsea lost Liam Delap to a hamstring injury yesterday in their home victory against Fulham.

The Blues revoked the permission for Jackson to undergo his medical in Germany after landing, asking him to return to London as the deal was off.

The Senegalese international and his camp were reluctant to accept that decision and have remained in Germany seeking a solution.

Currently, Jackson is expected back at Chelsea due to their packed schedule this campaign and their unwillingness to go into the season with just one recognised striker after Delap was said to be out for up to eight weeks.

The Premier League side are now looking for a replacement should the deal advance, and Sporting CP striker Conrad Harder is among the names considered.

The Danish striker has also been linked to AC Milan after Victor Boniface’s transfer failed due to a failed medical, but he is yet to agree to personal terms with the Italian giants.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are waiting for a response from Barcelona about their €40 million bid for Fermin Lopez.

The Blues have also announced the arrival of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United on a seven-year contract, making him their ninth arrival of the summer.
