AC Milan closing in on Victor Boniface

AC Milan are on the verge of signing Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen, according to Sky Sport DE in Germany.

The Nigerian striker has reached a verbal agreement with Milan, with club-to-club negotiations ongoing to strike a deal.

Patrick Berger reports that the deal is a loan with an option to buy.

With Noah Okafor’s imminent transfer to Leeds United, his departure further depletes the centre-forward options and leaves Milan with Santiago Gimenez as the only reliable number nine.

The Rossoneri want to bring in competition for Gimenez, with Boniface emerging as a top target over other potential signings.

The 24-year-old joined Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2023.

In his debut season, he bagged 21 goals and 10 assists in all competitions, leading Die Werkself to an historical Bundesliga title triumph, edging over Bayern Munich.

This earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award.

In the 2024/25 season, he lost his starting spot to Patrik Schick, following a series of impressive performances from the latter.

Despite struggling with injuries and inconsistencies last season, Boniface netted eight goals in 18 league games.

The Rossoneri have strengthened their squad with six signings so far this summer, with manager Massimiliano Allegri seeking to add Boniface to their ranks.

Boniface has been linked with a move away from Germany in January, when Al Nassr were close to securing his signature before the deal collapsed.

Milan begin their Serie A campaign against Cremonese at San Siro on Saturday.
