Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement with Sevilla to sign Loïc Badé for £25.9 million with bonuses included, according to Fabrice Hawkins.
The 25-year-old defender joined La Liga side Sevilla in the winter transfer window of 2023 on loan from Rennes until the end of the season with an option to buy.
He contributed to the team’s triumph in the UEFA Europa League, notably scoring in a 3–0 win over Manchester United in the quarter-finals.
After making 27 appearances and scoring two goals for the club across six months, Sevilla signed Badé on a permanent deal.
On the 1st September 2024, Badé received his first call-up to the France national team for two UEFA Nations League matches after Wesley Fofana pulled out due to injury.
He later made his international debut for France on the 8th of June 2025, in a 2–0 win over Germany in the 2025 UEFA Nations League Finals third-place play-off.
The Frenchman has gained many suitors around Europe over time, with Bournemouth having concrete interest in him this summer, but Badé has agreed to personal terms with Leverkusen.
Although his side finished 17th in the league last season, he was important for the Red and Whites, making 32 La Liga appearances, scoring and assisting once.
Leverkusen have had many departures this summer, including defender Jonathan Tah, who left for Bayern Munich as a free agent.
Erik ten Hag’s side have signed Jarell Quansah from Liverpool to fill up the vacant space in defence, and they look to add Badé to their ranks.
Xabi Alonso led Leverkusen to a 2nd-place position, losing out to Bayern, who won the Meisterschale for a record 33rd time.
Die Werkself finished 1st in the Bundesliga 2023/24, winning their first-ever Bundesliga title. They also won the DFB-Pokal, completing a domestic double.
However, they lost in the final of the UEFA Europa League to Atalanta after they were eliminated in the Champions League round of 16.
After nine signings, the German side are hoping to recreate their 23/24 successful season as they begin their Bundesliga campaign against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday.
