Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace chairmen meet and open talks over the Eberechi Eze deal

Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace chairmen Daniel Levy and Steve Parish were in direct contact today over Eberechi Eze’s deal, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Eze’s £68 million release clause recently expired, but Tottenham are confident of agreeing a deal as talks continue with Palace.

Spurs have submitted an initial bid of £60m for the attacker and are hoping to strike a deal for the Englishman.

Eze has been keen on changing sides of London to the North, with Tottenham interested in his signature.

He racked up 14 goals and 12 assists last season in all competitions, leading the Eagles to an historical FA Cup victory against Manchester City.

The England international scored a free-kick in Palace’s first game against Chelsea, but it was ruled out for a foul committed by Marc Guehi in the Blues’ wall.

The departure of club captain Son Heung-min to the United States and the long-term injury of James Maddison have intensified Spurs’ interest in the winger.

Arsenal have been the forerunner for the signature of Eze, but their quest to discard players for new arrivals has slowed down the deal.

The Lilywhites have secured the permanent signatures of Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel after the expiration of his loan deal last summer.

The Ghanaian assisted twice in a 3-0 Premier League curtain raiser against Burnley.

Spurs travel to Manchester to take on Manchester City in their next match.

They look forward to Eze’s arrival in North London to improve their side after their Europa League triumph last season.
