Manchester City’s Rico Lewis has emerged as a shock target for Nottingham Forest this summer

Nottingham Forest want to complete a double swoop of Manchester City academy talents by landing Rico Lewis alongside James McAtee, according to Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan.

The Premier League clubs are discussing the transfer fee for the 20-year-old versatile player. Forest is also reportedly willing to double Lewis’s salary to secure his signature.

The Tricky Trees feel Lewis is keen on the move and want to push to get the deal done with City.

Negotiations are ongoing between the clubs, as an initial bid has already been sent, but it is not enough to convince the English giants.

Lewis made 44 appearances in all competitions under Pep Guardiola last season, and he is six games away from a century of games for the club.

City had been looking to tie the youngster down to a new deal and marked those negotiations as a priority going into the summer but have not managed to finalise terms because the 20-year-old has fallen behind Matheus Nunes in the pecking order at right back.

A graduate of City’s academy, Lewis made his debut for the club in August 2022 as a 17-year-old and went on to establish himself as part of the squad that won the Premier League and the Champions League that season.

Lewis has made 94 appearances for City, scoring five goals and recording nine assists. He won a second league title with the side in 2023/24.

City get their 2025/26 season underway with a visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, while Forest host Brentford on Sunday.
