Leeds have reached an agreement to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a free agent

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly set to join newly promoted Premier League outfit Leeds United, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The 28-year-old has been available on the market as a free agent since June after he departed Everton when his contract expired.

He joined the Merseyside club in 2016 from Sheffield United and spent nine years at the club.

He netted 71 times in 274 appearances for the English side, but his stay at Goodison Park was disrupted by injuries.

Although Everton had offered the England international a new deal towards the end of the 2023/24 season, seeking to retain him at the club on fresh terms, but no deal was struck.

Calvert-Lewin was part of the England Under-20 squad that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final against Venezuela.

He made his debut for the England national team in October 2020 and subsequently scored in a 3–0 friendly win against Wales at Wembley Stadium.

He has since then made 10 more appearances for the Three Lions and found the back of the net three times.

The English striker rejected a move to Newcastle United last summer in a deal that would have seen Yankuba Minteh, who eventually joined Brighton & Hove Albion, move in the opposite direction.

Manchester United also tentatively explored a deal for the striker before completing the signing of Benjamin Sesko.

Leeds, having completed seven signings for the new Premier League campaign, the Whites have added Calvert-Lewin to their books, who will bring experience to their attack.
