Everton have agreed a deal to sign Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City, reports Fabrizio Romano.
Grealish has struggled to gain minutes at the Etihad under Pep Guardiola, making 16 appearances in all competitions and seven in the Premier League last season.
In City’s final game of the season against Fulham away at the Cottage, the 29-year-old was left out of the travelling squad, as Pep described it as “nothing personal”.
The English winger was also left out of the Cityzens’ squad that flew to the United States of America for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
Guardiola said the decision was taken after “honest” talks between Grealish and the club. And although he stopped short of saying the winger’s City career is over, the Spaniard hinted that he needs to find a new club and rediscover his love of football.
He signed for City in 2021 for a transfer fee worth £100 million, making him, at the time, the most expensive British player ever.
In his first season with the club, he won the Premier League title before securing a continental treble in his second campaign, starting every knockout game in the Champions League.
Everton have been making a wave in the transfer market, signing four players, with Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all joining this summer.
The Toffees securing the signature of Grealish will be a major boost in their attacking power after the departure of Neal Maupay and Armando Broja.
They can also permanently retain him, as the deal includes an option to buy at the end of the loan.
Everton kick their season off with an away game to newly-promoted Leeds next Monday – that game and all other Premier League games can be streamed live online.
