Chelsea has been busy in the transfer market, making five new signings, with more incomings expected. This has made uncomfortable players look for a move outside Stamford Bridge and young talents go out on loan to enhance their development.
Armando Broja, Lesley Ugochukwu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, Mamadou Sarr and Mike Penders have all departed the Bridge this summer.
More departures are expected, with Raheem Sterling, Benjamin Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, and Trique George all set to leave West London.
Academy graduate Broja has signed for newly promoted side Burnley on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Clarets have also reached an agreement with the Blues to sign Ugochukwu.
The 21-year-old spent his 24/25 season at Southampton, who were relegated down to the Championship, and returned to Chelsea upon the expiration of his contract.
BBC Sport reports the Toffees have agreed a deal worth up to £28m to sign the 26-year-old English midfielder.
Spanish youngster Marc Guiu has also sought to improve his development after moving on loan to also newly promoted side Sunderland for a year-long deal.
Sister club Strasbourg have secured the signature of both goalkeeper Penders and Sarr, who returns to the club on a season-long loan deal.
Having spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Arsenal, Sterling returns and will most likely leave West London after his unimpressive 26 G/A in 75 appearances in all competitions across two seasons in Chelsea blue.
Chilwell spent the second part of the 24/25 season on loan at Crystal Palace after being frozen out of the squad; he will be looking to get a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Chukwuemeka spent a season-long loan at Borussia Dortmund, with the German side looking to retain him permanently after his loan deal expired, and he is understandably keen on a permanent move.
Disasi also departed to Aston Villa on loan for the second part of the 24/25 season after he was cleared to leave by the Chelsea board, and he will likely seek his future elsewhere.
Defender Veiga has also opened doors to his exit after he spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Juventus.
Nkunku moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2023 after clinching the joint highest goal scorer award (Torjägerkanone) in the Bundesliga for Leipzig.
The German didn’t impress, as he recorded 23 G/A in 62 appearances in his two-season spell at Chelsea, with both parties willing to part ways this summer.
Jackson has gone down the ranks in the Blues striker’s position as the club have recruited João Pedro and Liam Delap, who have impressed in their few outings for the West Londoners.
The English side will be hoping to balance up their books with outgoings to match up with their signings.
