Valencia closing in on deal to sign Arnaut Danjuma

La Liga side Valencia have reached an agreement with Villarreal for the acquisition of Arnaut Danjuma, according to Foot Mercato.

The 28-year-old joined the Yellow Submarine in the summer of 2021 and netted 22 goals in 51 matches in his first two seasons at Estadio de la Cerámica.

However, Danjuma had spent each of the last three seasons on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and most recently Girona.

With one year left on his current deal, Villarreal have now decided to part ways with the Dutchman on a permanent basis to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

After recently featuring for Villarreal in their 3-2 friendly triumph over Arsenal, where he found the back of the net, Danjuma is expected to arrive in Valencia shortly for the finalisation of his move to the Mestalla.

He would be Los Che’s sixth signing of the summer as they prepare for their first full season under Carlos Corberan.

Capable of playing either as a winger or a striker, Danjuma adds versatility at the top end of the pitch to a Valencia side that only managed 44 league goals last time out.

For Danjuma, a move to Valencia also allows him to reignite a once-promising career off the back of an underwhelming spell with Girona last time out.

Danjuma is not expected to be available for Valencia’s final pre-season game against Torino later today and is likely to make his debut in next Saturday’s La Liga opening fixture against Real Sociedad.
