Barcelona will be looking to continue their excellent run when they host Girona for an exciting La Liga clash on Sunday afternoon.
Blaugrana are in a brilliant position to win the league title this season, as they are sitting at the top with three points clear of second-placed Real Madrid.
Match Preview
Barcelona will enter Sunday’s game on the back of a comfortable 3-0 success over Osasuna in the rearranged fixture on Thursday night.
The fate of the contest never looked in doubt, with Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo putting them 2-0 ahead in the opening 21 minutes.
Osasuna made changes in the second-half, but Robert Lewandowski put the game to bed with a brilliant 77th-minute strike.
The result made it five straight wins in all competitions for Hansi Flick’s side, who are now three points clear at the top of the standings.
Barcelona were massively struggling in November and December when they lost four of their five league defeats this season. But they have since made an excellent comeback and are Football Today’s favourite team to lift the La Liga trophy.
On the other hand, Girona have had a challenging 2024-25 campaign after finishing third in the table last term.
They played out a 1-1 draw with Valencia in their last outing, extending their winless run to six matches in the Spanish top-flight.
Diego Lopez put the visitors ahead just before the hour mark, but Cristhian Stuani levelled the scores to salvage a draw for Girona.
Team News
Barcelona will not be able to call upon the services of Olmo, who was forced off with an adductor issue soon after he scored from the penalty spot against Osasuna. Andreas Christensen, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Casado and Marc Bernal are also set to be absent due to fitness issues.
As for Girona, Donny van de Beek will be missing as he has been suspended due to the yellow card he received against Valencia last time out. Meanwhile, Abel Ruiz, Ivan Martin and Jhon Solis will remain sidelined due to injury problems.
