Manchester United are eyeing a potential move for Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku.
The 27-year-old joined the Blues from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 for a fee around £52 million.
But the move hasn’t gone to plan as he has struggled to make an impact due to injuries.
Nkunku hasn’t been playing regularly under manager Enzo Maresca this season, but his numbers show that he is still a top talent.
In 28 appearances across all competitions this term, the Frenchman has scored 13 goals and registered four assists.
Nkunku is reportedly open to leaving Stamford Bridge this month, with Bayern Munich keen to bring him back to the Bundesliga where he showcased his skills for Leipzig between 2019 and 2023.
According to ESPN, United have asked the Londoners to be kept informed of developments regarding his future.
The Manchester giants could sign Nkunku as a potential replacement for Alejandro Garnacho, who is wanted by Chelsea.
PSR situation
Manchester United have had a disappointing 2024-25 campaign in the Premier League.
The Red Devils slumped to their 10th defeat of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion last Sunday after a horror display from Andre Onana. They will now take on Fulham at Craven Cottage, which fans can watch through live streams.
United parted company with Erik ten Hag and installed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach in November.
But the Portuguese boss has also been struggling to get a tune out of their squad, recording just six wins from 16 matches.
Amorim wants to add a few quality players before the February 3 transfer deadline.
But the club need to sell before buying new players to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
United have already told fans that they are at risk of breaching the financial rules if they don’t cut their losses.
To boost their spending power, they are open to offers for academy stars Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
