Nottingham Forest in transfer battle with Arsenal for Matheus Cunha

Nottingham Forest have joined Arsenal in the transfer race for Premier League star Matheus Cunha.

This is according to the Daily Mail who report the Tricky Trees have made Cunha their top priority target in the winter window.

The 25-year-old has been earning rave reviews with his performances in the English league.

He joined Wolves in January 2023 on loan from Atletico Madrid, with an obligation to buy clause included.

Cunha has since gone from strength to strength at the Molineux Stadium. He has already scored 10 goals in 21 league appearances this season. Football fans can watch him in action for the Old Gold via the Premier League live streams.

The Brazilian’s impressive displays have sparked transfer interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. And now Forest are the latest club to join the race for the talented player.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have already submitted a £22 million bid for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, but the Bees turned down their offer.

Now they have turned their attention to Cunha, who is currently on the radar of several top English clubs.

The Brazil international has a contract with Wolves until 2027, but the West Midlands outfit are keen to hand him a new deal in a bid to ward off interest from other clubs.

Arsenal’s interest in Cunha

Mikel Arteta’s side were not expected to target a forward in the January window, but injury issues have limited their options in attack.

Bukayo Saka has had surgery on his hamstring and will likely remain sidelined until March.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus also sustained a serious knee injury recently, and he is expected to be out for the remainder of the season.

These injuries have changed their transfer plans, as the Gunners are now attempting to sign Cunha.

However, a deal will be difficult in January, as Wolves are not willing to lose their prized asset midway through the campaign.
