Ruben Amorim has endured a difficult start to his reign at Manchester United.
The 39-year-old, who replaced Erik ten Hag at the helm, has won just four of his 13 matches, with his team languishing in 15th place in the league table.
However, things have been very positive recently for the Portuguese boss as well as United.
They held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw before knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup last weekend. They are now favourites to beat Southampton in Thursday’s Premier League game live on TV at Old Trafford.
Amorim will look to make a big comeback in the second-half of the season by adding a few quality players to the squad.
According to RMC Sport, the Red Devils are interested in signing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
But they reportedly face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur who are also keen on the talented player.
The 25-year-old has been earning rave reviews with his performances for the Bees this campaign. He has already scored 13 goals and registered four assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.
The Cameroon international has been at Brentford since 2019, making 225 total appearances and scoring 63 goals.
Why January move is unlikely
United would love to sign a quality winger like Mbeumo, but the West London outfit are expected to demand a huge fee for a transfer.
The 25-year-old has a Transfermarkt value of £42 million, but Brentford are expected to demand a far higher fee for him.
United will need to make sales before bringing in new players to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Marcus Rashford is expected to leave Old Trafford on loan amid interest from several top European clubs.
The English giants are looking to offload Antony this month, as the Brazilian has completely failed to make an impact since arriving in Manchester in 2022.
Alejandro Garnacho has also been linked with a shock exit, although that is not very likely to happen.
