West Ham in talks to sign Inter Miami midfielder Diego Gomez

West Ham United have started talks to sign Inter Miami’s Diego Gomez this summer, according to the Sunday People (July 21, Page 64)

The 21-year-old has been impressive with his performances in the United States since joining Miami from Libertad last summer.

He has made 28 appearances across all competitions for the MLS outfit, scoring five goals and creating four assists in the process. The midfielder has also represented Paraguay at the Olympic Games.

His excellent performances in America have caught the attention of West Ham who want to bring him to the Premier League.

But the Hammers face competition as Brighton & Hove Albion are also keen on him.

It is said that Inter Miami will only consider offers above £15 million for the 21-year-old.

Julen Lopetegui has been trying to make some quality additions to his squad as he aims to lead the Irons to an impressive start in 2024-25.

They have already completed deals for Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham, but more signings are expected over the following weeks.

The East Londoners want to bring N’Golo Kante back to England from Saudi Arabia, but their £15m offer was turned down by Al Ittihad.

They have also renewed their interest in Manchester United’s Scott McTominay. But a deal for the Scotland international is not expected to be easy as the Red Devils are reportedly demanding around £40m transfer fee.
