Tottenham rival Arsenal in chase for excellent free agent

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for free agent Adrien Rabiot.

The 29-year-old has recently left Juventus after the expiry of his contract.

The Old Lady were keen to renew his deal as he was a key member of their first-team squad last season, featuring in 31 Serie A matches and scoring five goals.

But the midfielder apparently wanted a new challenge and so decided to end his five year association with the Italian side.

Rabiot is now set to join the Premier League amid interest from several top English clubs.

According to Tutto Juve, Tottenham have shown an interest in signing the former Paris Saint-Germain star.

But Spurs face competition for the 29-year-old’s signature as Arsenal are also reportedly keen on him.

This is a big blow for the Lilywhites as they will not be able to offer Champions League football for the player next season.

Tottenham have brought in Archie Gray from Leeds United in a £40 million deal earlier this month, but they are expected to make more signings before the transfer window closes on August 30.

The North Londoners are pursuing a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney, while they have also been linked with Italy international Federico Chiesa.

Ange Postecoglou failed to secure a Champions League berth last term, despite leading them to an impressive start.

The Australian boss will look to make a big comeback in 2024-25 by making some quality additions this summer.
