West Ham United are reportedly interested in bringing Al-Ittihad star N’Golo Kante back to the Premier League.
According to The Guardian, the two parties are currently locked in negotiations for the 33-year-old and there is a willingness to get a deal done on both sides.
Kante left Chelsea in the summer of 2023 to join Al-Ittihad on a two-year deal worth £172 million.
The Frenchman had struggled with injuries in the final years of his stay at the Blues, but he stayed fit for most of last campaign in the Saudi Arabia.
The midfielder made 44 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring four goals and creating six assists in the process.
His excellent displays saw him recalled to the France national team for the Euro 2024, where he started all six matches to help his side reach the semi-finals.
West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui is said to be a long-term admirer of Kante and wants to bring him to England in the ongoing summer transfer window.
However, they would need to fork out £20 million to secure the 33-year-old’s services.
The Hammers are looking to add a new defensive midfielder after they opted against signing Kalvin Phillips permanently following his loan spell at the club.
The East Londoners have been very busy this summer as they have already completed deals for Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman.
West Ham have also renewed their interest in Manchester United’s Scott McTominay after their £30m bid for the midfielder was rejected last summer.
