Everton eyeing move for Montpellier defender Becir Omeragic

Everton are reportedly eyeing a move for Montpellier defender Becir Omeragic.

The 22-year-old has been earning rave reviews in France since joining the Ligue 1 side last summer.

He made 28 league appearances last season, averaging 1.7 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per game.

Sean Dyche’s side have completed the signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille, and now they are looking to bolster their defensive ranks.

According to Foot Mercato, they have set their sights on Becir Omeragic.

The Switzerland international’s performances have also sparked an interest from German clubs but the Premier League outfit could be the first to make a move.

The Toffees look in need of defensive reinforcements as they lost Ben Godfrey to Serie A side Atalanta last month.

Meanwhile, there has also been a lot of speculation regarding Jarrad Branthwaite’s future at Goodison Park.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with Manchester United, who had their improved £50 million bid rejected for the player.

The Red Devils have recently reached an agreement with Lille to sign Leny Yoro in a deal worth up to £62m, but that doesn’t mean they are out of the race for Branthwaite.

Everton are very reluctant to lose their star player and have slapped a whopping £80m price-tag.

But whether Branthwaite stays or leaves, a move for Omeragic makes sense as they need another option at the back.
