Arne Slot is poised to become new Liverpool manager after the club reached an agreement in principle with Feyenoord.
The two clubs were engaged in talks over a compensation fee since the Reds launched an official bid for the Dutchman earlier this week.
The Guardian are now reporting the Merseyside giants have agreed terms with Feyenoord who will receive €9 million plus €2 million in add-ons for letting the 45-year-old leave this summer.
Slot has done impressively at the Rotterdam outfit since coming into the job in 2021.
Despite working on a low budget, he led his side to the Eredivisie title as well as the KVNB Cup in the last two seasons.
Jurgen Klopp shocked Liverpool fans in January when he announced he would be stepping down from his role at the end of the season.
The Reds were heavily linked with Xabi Alonso for filling the vacancy but the Spaniard ruled himself out as he decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least another season.
Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim and Brighton & Hove Albion coach Roberto De Zerbi were also thought to be favourites for the managerial position.
But Slot is now set to take charge at Anfield following the club’s agreement with Feyenoord over compensation.
Klopp’s dream sendoff spoiled
Liverpool were on course for an excellent 2023-24 campaign as they were in contention for all four possible trophies.
But things have massively deteriorated in the last few weeks as they were knocked out of the FA Cup and Europa League.
Meanwhile, their league title aspirations are also almost over following damaging defeats against Crystal Palace and Everton.
Winning all the remaining four league fixtures, which are available to watch via the Premier League live streams, will not be enough if Arsenal and Manchester City don’t slip-up.
