With 2023/24 now heading into the All-Star break, now seems like the ideal opportunity to assess how the rest of the season will unfold.
The main question at this juncture is an obvious one – which team will safely navigate through the play-offs and win the NBA championship?
According to Betway, the winner will likely be one of four teams – Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers or Milwaukee Bucks. Read on as we assess their chances.
Boston Celtics
Boston Celtics have been head and shoulders above the rest in the Eastern Conference this term and are worthy favourites with Betway to win this year’s Championship.
They boast a 43-12 record after 55 games and should have little difficulty securing the number one seed at the end of the regular season.
Top players Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis are averaging a combined 70 points per game – a tally which makes the Celtics a formidable force.
The Celtics have come close to being crowned NBA champions in each of the last two seasons but look a good bet to get over the line this time around.
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets claimed the championship for the first time in their history last season and are firmly in the mix to go back-to-back this term.
They are three games adrift of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference but still have plenty of time to make up the deficit.
Serbian star Nikola Jokic continues to produce stellar performances for the Nuggets, and his presence in the line-up undoubtedly boosts their title hopes.
Winning back-to-back titles in any sport is never easy, but it would be foolish to underestimate the Nuggets’ chances of achieving the feat.
Los Angeles Clippers
When it comes to having a roster packed with play-off experience, you would be hard-pushed to beat who the Los Angeles Clippers have at their disposal.
James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Russell Westbrook have played more than 500 post-season games combined – a factor that could tip the odds in their favour.
The Clippers’ bench options are also strong, ranking fifth in the NBA in offensive rating. That output could be crucial during the post-season.
The main issue for the Clippers is keeping everyone healthy. If their superstars can avoid injuries, they have an excellent chance of clinching the title.
Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks’ shock decision to fire head coach Adrian Griffin is yet to pay dividends, with the team failing to fire under replacement Doc Rivers.
The team are 3-7 under Rivers following their narrow 113-110 defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies, and he made it clear he was unhappy with his players after the game.
There have been rumours that several key players are unwilling to buy into Rivers’ methods, particularly when it comes to his intense practice sessions.
The Bucks undoubtedly have the talent to win the NBA title, but it is unlikely to happen unless everyone starts pulling in the same direction.
