West Ham United will be looking to complete the Premier League double over Arsenal when they host the Gunners at the London Stadium on Sunday.
The Hammers suffered a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United last time out, while the Gunners sealed a thrilling 3-1 triumph over Liverpool.
Match Preview
West Ham’s recent run of form has been concerning for fans as they are yet to register a single victory in the new year.
In their previous six matches in all competitions, the Irons have lost two and suffered four draws.
Their most recent fixture saw them losing 3-0 at Manchester United, who dominated the Old Trafford encounter.
David Moyes’ side had their moments in the first-half but it was United who took the lead through Rasmus Hojlund.
Alejandro Garnacho added two more after the break as they cruised to a comfortable victory.
Despite the defeat, West Ham are sitting sixth in the Premier League table with 36 points from 23 games.
On the other hand, Arsenal blew the title race wide open by beating Liverpool 3-1 in their previous league outing.
The Gunners took an early lead through Bukayo Saka before the visitors restored parity through an own-goal from Gabriel Magalhaes.
But Mikel Arteta’s side struck twice in the second-half to ease to victory, with mistakes from Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker allowing Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard to get on the scoresheet.
The result means Arsenal have reduced the gap to two points with the leaders Liverpool, but Manchester City, who will face Everton on Saturday, are still ahead of them on goal difference.
Team News
West Ham don’t have many injury woes this weekend. Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski was subbed off against United but David Moyes later revealed his withdrawal was merely a precaution and that he should be available for the upcoming match. Meanwhile, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio will be missing as they are still recovering from injury issues.
As for the Gunners, Oleksandr Zinchenko picked up a knock during the match against Liverpool and so he is set to miss the upcoming encounter in a big Arsenal news. Thomas Partey, Fabio Vieira and Jurrien Timber are all long-term absentees for the North Londoners.
