Liverpool players in the international break

Liverpool entered November’s international break on a positive note following their 3-0 success over Brentford. 

With a point behind defending champions Manchester City, the Reds are firmly in the Premier League title race. 

Twelve of their players have been called up for international duty, including Trent Alexander-Arnold for England’s two fixtures this month. That number would have been higher if not for injuries to the likes of Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate. 

Below we have listed the dates when your favourite Liverpool stars will showcase their skills for their respective countries.

Thursday, 16th November 

Wataru Endo will likely be in action for Japan on Thursday when the team host Myanmar for their opening 2026 World Cup qualifier. Mohamed Salah’s Egypt too have a game on the same day as they take on Djibouti at the Cairo International Stadium. 

Hungary and Portugal also have Euro matches on 16th November, and so we could see Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota in action. Elsewhere, Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez could face each other in the Argentina-Uruguay clash. 

Luis Diaz’s first match in Colombia since the release of his father sees them take on Brazil, who are set to start Alisson Becker between the sticks. 

Friday, 17th November 

England’s dead rubber against Malta on Friday could see the inclusion of Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back. But it is likely that Kostas Tsimikas will be rested for Greece’s inconsequential fixture against New Zealand. 

Saturday, 18th November 

Netherlands will be looking to beat the Republic of Ireland on Saturday to secure their place at the finals of the Euro 2024. Liverpool supporters could see Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo in action for the Oranje, while Caoimhin Kelleher has been picked in the Irish squad. 

Sunday, 19th November 

Three Reds’ stars will be showcasing their skills for their countries on Sunday. Szoboszlai and Hungary will be hoping their home encounter with Montenegro is a mere formality for Euro 2024 qualification after their match at Bulgaria. 

Meanwhile, Salah might fancy his chances of scoring when Egypt visit the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex to play against Sierra Leone. Jota and Portugal will be aiming to maintain their 100 percent record in the qualifiers when they host Iceland. 

Monday, 20th November 

Trent will be the only Liverpool player on international duty next Monday, when England square off with North Macedonia at the Toše Proeski Arena. 

Tuesday, 21st November 

Tuesday will see many of the Reds’ stars in action, with Japan, Netherlands, Greece and Ireland all set for their respective international fixtures.

Wataru Endo and Japan will face Syria, while Van Dijk, Gakpo and co will come up against Gibraltar. Tsimikas and Greece have a tricky home fixture against World Cup finalists France, and Kelleher may start in place of Gavin Bazunu in Ireland’s home encounter with New Zealand.
