The Premier League season is over with Manchester City once again crowned the champions of England.
Arsenal mounted a brilliant title challenge after an impressive start to the campaign, losing only once until the World Cup break.
However, some big injuries towards the end of the season meant they couldn’t maintain their levels, picking up three defeats from their final six matches.
The Gunners’ late collapse as well as City’s spectacular run of form in 2023 saw the league trophy heading to Manchester once again.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be aiming to mount another title challenge as they are targeting some high-profile players in the 2023 transfer window.
Meanwhile, Manchester United made a great comeback under Erik ten Hag last term, finishing third in the Premier League. The final Champions League spot was taken by Newcastle United.
As for Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea, the 2022-23 campaign proved to be a massive disappointment, with the three sides finishing 5th, 8th and 12th respectively.
The new season will begin in August, so there is plenty of time left before the players return to the football field. However, fans will not lack for football action with the Premier League’s pre-season just around the corner.
Below we look at five best pre-season fixtures to watch in July.
1- Arsenal vs Manchester United
The two English giants will travel to the United States this summer and they will face each other at the MetLife Stadium in New York on July 22.
2- Newcastle United vs Chelsea
Newcastle are now a force to be reckoned with in Europe as they have seen enormous progress in the last few years. The Magpies will be in contention with Chelsea at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
