Liverpool will be looking to claim a convincing victory over Napoli to secure top spot in Group A on Tuesday night.
The Reds eased past Ajax in their previous Champions League match but they now must defeat their next opponents by three or more goals to claim the top spot in their group.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will come into the European game on the back of a disappointing 2-1 loss to Leeds United last weekend.
Mohamed Salah cancelled out the advantage of Rodrigo Moreno’s early goal but the visitors managed to seal full points after Crysencio Summerville grabbed a late winner.
Napoli, on the other hand, are currently enjoying a spectacular run of form, winning their previous 13 matches in all competitions.
The Blues were most recently in action against Sassuolo at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, where they emerged victorious by an incredible 4-0 scoreline.
Luciano Spalletti’s side are currently at the top of the league standings, having 32 points from a possible 36.
Match Preview
Liverpool
The Reds domestic form has been so poor that they are looking unlikely to finish even in the top-four by the end of the season. Saturday’s setback against the Whites was their fourth defeat of the season, leaving them ninth in the table with 16 points.
However, Liverpool have been relatively better in the Champions League where they endured a disastrous start but recovered to pick up four wins on the trot. Currently, they are three points behind group leaders Napoli but have a slim chance to grab the top spot if they manage to win their final game by a big margin.
Napoli
The Blues have been enjoying a spectacular 2022-23 season, with the Italian side doing incredibly well both in the Serie A and Champions League. However, they are expected to find tough opponents in Liverpool on Tuesday, despite comprehensively beating the Premier League outfit last time out. So far, the two teams have met each other on seven occasions in the past, with both sides winning two matches each while the remaining three ending in draws.
Team News
Liverpool will not be able to avail the services of Luis Diaz, Joel Matip, Diogo Jota, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arthur due to injury issues. The Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to make changes on Tuesday with an important league fixture against Tottenham Hotspur coming this weekend.
Meanwhile, Napoli will be without Salvatore Sirigu and Amir Rrahmani due to muscle issues.
