Manchester City will be looking to bounce back when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The Citizens’ unbeaten run this season came to an end at Liverpool last weekend as Jurgen Klopp’s side claimed a superb 1-0 victory courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s second-half strike.
City’s impressive frontline couldn’t breach the Reds’ defence, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez producing an impressive performance.
Despite the defeat, the Manchester giants are still second in the table with 23 points from a possible 30.
Meanwhile, Brighton will enter the Etihad clash on the back of a disappointing goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
It was a good opportunity for new manager Roberto de Zerbi to register his first victory against Steve Cooper’s struggling team. The Seagulls put their opposition under a lot of pressure but lack of precision ultimately let them down.
Match Preview
Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s side managed to score an incredible 15 goals in their victories over Manchester United, Copenhagen and Southampton after the international break. However, the goals have dried up for the Citizens recently as they failed to strike against Copenhagen and Liverpool in their last two matches. But with Erling Haaland leading their attack, City are expected to score many against Brighton this weekend.
Brighton & Hove Albion
The Seagulls don’t boast a good record against Manchester City who have won 18 of their 28 meetings in the past. Brighton have prevailed on only six occasions while four have ended in draws.
Roberto de Zerbi’s side are struggling to score goals recently, with the Premier League outfit failing to fire in their previous three games. City are not invincible, but they will find very hard to score at the Etihad Stadium.
Team News
Manchester City have a few injury woes this weekend, with Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips both sidelined through groin and shoulder issues respectively. But John Stones could be part of the matchday squad following his return to training.
Brighton, on the other hand, will not be able to avail the services of Kaoru Mitoma and Jakob Moder due to fitness issues. While the availability of Levi Colwill is also doubtful for the away fixture.

Manchester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion Prediction
The Citizens will be highly motivated to return to winning ways after their disappointing defeat at Liverpool. Brighton have enough quality to create an upset at the Etihad Stadium but the likelihood of that happening is very slim. We believe that Pep Guardiola’s side claim a comfortable victory on Saturday.
Manchester City 3-0 Brighton & Hove Albion
