Manchester City will be looking to continue their impressive form when they welcome Southampton to the Etihad Stadium this Saturday in the Premier League. 

Pep Guardiola’s side will enter the upcoming match on the back of an emphatic 5-0 Champions League victory over Copenhagen. 

Erling Haaland was unstoppable once again as the Norwegian bagged a brace before the half-time to take his goal tally to an incredible 19 across all competitions this season. 

Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez also added to the scoreline after an own goal from Davit Khocholava as the Citizens registered their third successive victory in Europe. 

Southampton, on the other hand, are enduring a difficult run at the moment as they have lost their previous three matches in the English top-flight. 

The Saints were in action against Everton last weekend and Joe Aribo put them in the ascendency by scoring early in the second half. 

However, the Toffees made a strong comeback as Conor Coady equalised with a smart finish before Dwight McNeil added another in the space of just two mintues. 

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side ultimately suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat, with lack of precision in the final third letting them down at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently the only unbeaten team in the English top-flight this season. They were expected to find tough opponents in Manchester United last Sunday but they cruised past the Red Devils with Haaland and Phil Foden both scoring hat-tricks. 

Manchester City failed to pick up full points against Southampton in both the home and away league fixtures last season. However, the Citizens are currently in a buoyant mood and will be looking to claim another comfortable home victory.
